Daily Deviation

Given 2006-02-26

The challenge of sport photojournalism is to depict in one single frame both the event and the spirit of the sport. Take a long look at how this shot is rich in details, in energy.. See the quality of the panning that isolates the subjects and gives the motion and speed feeling. Sprinters dashing down the runway, this is would could be called a 'classic shot', but the backlight with its highlights and shadows, the background with this single spectator make it worth while, like many of the pictures shown in this deviant's gallery. I used to run track so I really love this. The black and white really adds to the dramatic feel to it. Only thing I don't like is the guy standing in the background, he takes a way a bit. Its great focus for the movement of the objects. Great job.

Wow. This photo is great! You've manage to capture a great moment, and managed to do it very artisitcally/professionally. You've made great use of the light, with their halo's giving the impression that you've cut them from another place and stuck them on top of the image. what's really interesting is that there is a degree of motion blur, but (ignoring the extremities of the runners) it most prevalent in the background, as if they were on a giant treadmill. I really like the expressions on their faces; determination, worry, fear, stress etc. I would perhaps have taken the image from another angle, as the wall as a background is somewhat oppressive and dull, but that's just a personal opinion. Great stuff!

Very nice shot
:iconenomis:
The "background guy" is the curse of photograph!! :P
Anyway thanks for your comment! :D

I take this shot from that angle to enjoy the backlight. When you photograph in outdoor you cannot choose the background so you must decide what you want: good light or good background? I choose often the light!
Another time thanks for your comment! :)

No problem; I'm trying to get my commenting standard back up, and you are an unfortunate victim of that ;p
A deviation as good as this deserves a good comment.
